Is There Anything Good Online Today?

Tue, Mar 24

The messaging in the technology ethics world is often too negative. There is some good stuff out there on the Internet, you just have to know where to look. In today's class we'll consider a range of different platforms and apps that might satisfy some of what we want when seeking out virtuous software.

We have three main in-class learning goals. By the end of lecture today you will:

  1. Appreciate that the Internet still has some good things to offer.
  2. Understand how CS researchers are using their skills and knowledge as forces for good.
  3. Apply the Think→Build→Do framework to find good technologies on the market today.
